Over Toilet Storage Ideas For A Contemporary Bathroom
Toilet Shelves and Cabinets, Bathroom Spacesavers for Wasted Over Toilet Space
Bathroom storage is not a major problem in most households. Whereas kids bedrooms easily run out of control into their own world of clutter, the average bathroom is relatively clutter free. That does not mean that things cannot be improved; they usually can. Plus, small bathrooms in particular may have storage issues that larger bathrooms do not have.
One often neglected bathroom storage possibility is using over toilet storage units of one sort or another. These are variously called over the toilet bathroom spacesavers, toilet etageres, or over toilet shelves and cabinets. They are something that leaves many people wondering: why didn't I think of over toilet shelves before? They certainly are a space saver, especially in a small bathroom.
Over the toilet storage can be divided into three types: toilet shelves, over toilet cabinets, and units that combine the two. They are generally available in popular types of bathroom metals, such as chrome, stainless steel and brushed nickel; plus, they can be made from a variety of woods and wood composites, from cheap plywood and MDF to solid oak, bamboo, wicker, cherry and other quality woods. In other words, they can be found to match the bathroom furniture that already exists, and be found in materials found in furniture throughout the house. Beware, though, to choose toilet shelves and cabinets that are designed for installation in a moist environment.
As with any furniture, prices vary according to quality of material and construction, size, and brand name if there is one. High quality over toilet storage units do stand out from the crowd, especially some of the modern metal finishes, decorative wrought ironwork and scrolling, and stylish solid wood cabinetry in more traditional styles. One toilet shelf or over the toilet cabinet is definitely not necessarily like any other.
Metal over toilet storage usually comes in the form of shelves only, as cabinets made from stainless steel alone, or chrome, are not commonly available. If you really want toilet cabinets and shelves combined, then a wooden unit of some sort is likely to be your best bet. However, wood can be combined with metal, and even glass, with quite a good effect, especially in the bathroom, so you may be able to get the metal and finish of your choice combined with a wooden cabinet.
